The Activa rival gets new features, a retuned engine and produces 8.1hp with 8.7Nm torque.

The 2017 Maestro Edge is getting ready to lead Hero’s charge against the extremely successful Honda Activa. It will be available with new features, new colours and a retuned engine that meets BS-IV emission norms.

The retuned air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine produces slightly less power, 8.1hp instead of 8.43hp, and a little more torque than before – 8.7Nm, up from 8.3Nm. Peak power and torque will be available from lower revs to help improve fuel efficiency.

New features include the Automatic Headlamp On (AHO), which is a safety feature that keeps the headlight on all the time. It will also carry over features like the LED tail-lamp, mobile charging port, boot light, integrated braking, anti-theft system and external fuel filling.

Buyers can choose from two new colour options – Sporty Matte Grey and Red, and Active Matte Grey and Blue.

The official price isn’t known yet, but the 2016 model was available for Rs 50,330 for the steel-wheeled variant and Rs 51,780 for the alloy-wheeled variant (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
