Aprilia Sport 125 scooter launched in Indian market.

Aprilia has launched its most affordable offering -- Storm 125 – in India. It comes with some changes as compared to the production version of the model that was first showcased at the Auto Expo last year. The price for the latest and entry level offering from the brand starts at Rs. 65,000, ex-showroom India and the dealers have already started accepting bookings for the scooter. Based on the SR125, the price for the Storm 125 is around Rs. 8,000 less than the SR125 which is priced at Rs. 72,920 ex-showroom, India.

As already mentioned, the production version of the Aprilia Storm 125 comes with some changes as compared to the model displayed at Auto Expo 2018. The first noticeable change is the presence of just drum brakes on both the wheels of the scooter. These drum brakes will comes with a Combined Braking System setup in the market. The brand has not yet confirmed whether there will be disc brake model of the Storm 125.

The aforementioned changes on the Storm 125 consist of the presence of tyres that are reminiscent of the tyres one sees on the Vespa models in India. Also, there is an Aprilia logo at the front, but instead of the red one seen at the Auto Expo, it is white in the production version of Storm 125. At the rear one can see a new grab rail, this also was not present on the model showcased at the Expo last year. However, this may be a case of rules mandated for homologation of the scooter. What is noteworthy though is that the Storm still comes with the Vee rubber off-road-oriented tyres. These tyres are expected to be the same units that were seen at the Auto Expo and they measured 120/80 at the front and 130/80 at the rear.

There are hopes that the Italian maker will offer the same engine on the Storm 125 that was seen on the SR125. This engine is rated to deliver 9.5 HP and 9.8 Nm. The transmission duties here will be handled by a CVT automatic gearbox. The suspension duties on the latest offering from the brand are handled by a telescopic setup at the front and a monoshocker at the rear. Other features of the scooter like the graphics on the body, the instrument panel and the headlamps and the tail lamps will be the ones that we already see on the SR125 in the Indian market. The Storm 125 will lock horns with the likes of TVS NTorq 125, Suzuki Burgman, and Honda Grazia in the market.
