Audi India is gearing up to launch the e-tron SUV and e-tron Sportback models on July 22, 2021, in the country. Ahead of the official launch, the German automaker has opened the bookings for the electric SUV and the coupe-SUV. Interested buyers can get the bookings done at the authorized Audi dealerships or via Audi’s India website at a token amount of Rs 5 lakh.

Basically, the e-tron is Audi’s first all-electric SUV, which is offered in two body styles - SUV & Sportback, and three variants - 50, 55, & 55 Sportback. Furthermore, it is based on the MEB platform. Design-wise, the electric SUV features Matrix LED headlamps with DRLs upfront. Towards the rear end of the model, there is an e-Tron logo on the charging flap and orange color brake calipers. In terms of dimensions, the upcoming electric SUV stands at 4901mm in length, 1935mm in width, and 1616mm in height.

Audi e-tron comes with a host of features. These include progressive steering, 4-zone automatic climate control, adaptive air suspension, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, powered front seats, and a powered tailgate. There is also a 10.1-inch MMI infotainment system compatible with Apple Carplay & Android Auto and a digital driver display with EV-specific graphics. "The future is electric and we are thrilled to open bookings for not one but two electric SUVs – the Audi e-tron and the Audi e-tron Sportback in India. The e-tron is not just one product but a brand in itself and we will launch several new models under this brand. With progress comes evolution, and the Audi e-tron and the Audi e-tron Sportback are the pinnacles of that evolution. These are not just any other cars, these are the beginning of a new era - the era of electric. These are cars from the future, for the future," as commented by Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India.

Under the bonnet, the Audi e-tron houses two electric motors - one on each axle, along with a 95 kWh battery pack. This setup generates a power output of 330 bhp and a peak torque of 561 Nm in standard mode. The power and torque output increase to 396.5 bhp and 664 Nm respectively in the sport mode. Besides these, the 95 kWh battery pack claims to offer a maximum range of 359-484 km (WLTP cycle) on a single charge. The battery can further be recharged for 8.5 hours using an 11 kW AC home charger. Both e-tron SUV and Sportback get an all-wheel-drive system as standard. Once launched, it will rival the likes of Mercedes Benz EQC and Jaguar I-Pace.
