Bajaj recently updated its entry-level cruiser to meet the BS6 standards.The BS6 Bajaj Avenger Street 160 has been launched in India at Rs 11,000 more than the outgoing model. It is now priced at Rs 94,893 (ex-showroom). Even after the price hike, the Avenger Street 160 continues to be the most affordable offering in Bajaj Auto’s Avenger range. The new BS6 Bajaj Avenger Street 160 will compete against the likes of recently launched Suzuki Intruder BS6. It will be available in two color options namely Ebony Black and Spicy Red.
Dimensionally the motorcycle remains the same. The wheels retain their 17-inch front and 15-inch rear configuration along with the wheelbase measuring 1490 mm. The fuel tank capacity stands at 13-litres.
Visually, BS6 Bajaj Street 160 retains the same features as the outgoing model. These include LED DRLs, low and long profile seat, super-wide rear tyre, roadster-like headlamp design, along with a sporty exhaust. Bajaj has also retained the 280 mm front disc and 130 mm rear drum combination along with a single-channel ABS. The suspension duties are handled by a pair of telescopic forks up-front and twin shock absorbers towards the rear.
Under the frame, Bajaj Avenger Street 160 has received a fuel-injection system, an ECU, and a new cat-con with the BS6 upgrade. It is powered by a revised 160 cc SOHC, air-cooled, DTS-i engine that churns out 15 bhp of power and 13.7 Nm torque.
