It will help riders in emergency braking scenarios.

The company just applied for a patent for new autonomous braking assistance technology. The new safety system is called ‘Emergency Autonomous Braking System’.

The tech will use sensors to check if the rider is physically and mentally prepared for panic braking during an emergency. The sensors are positioned at the handgrips, saddle, footpegs, instrument panel and inside the helmet.

Before the autonomous braking system takes over, the turn indicators start to flash to alert the rider. If the rider doesn’t respond, the system will automatically slow down the bike. Harley now joins numerous other manufacturers working on future solutions to boosting motorcycle safety.
