One is a naked street bike and the other, a power cruiser-styled bike.

Benelli has shown a host of new bikes, the most important for India are the Imperiale 400 and the 402S. The company stated that the Imperiale 400 is definitely coming to India while the 402S is under consideration at the moment. The Imperiale 400 is a street naked, with retro styling cues, and it’s powered by a 373.5cc, air-cooled, SOHC, single-cylinder engine. The engine makes 19.7hp and 28Nm, and is mated to a five-speed transmission.

The 402S draws inspiration from the Ducati Diavel. This bike comes better equipped than the 400, which means it will be priced at a premium as well. It is powered by a 399.3cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-valve-per-cylinder, parallel-twin engine, that makes 39.4hp and 35Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission.

If Ducati’s Diavel Indian success story is anything to go by, the 402S looks like it has the potential to appeal to the masses here. This, however, will depend on if Benelli and its Indian partner, DSK can get the pricing right.
