Jawa Starts Delivering Dual Channel ABS Bikes To Customers

We had recently reported that the deliveries for the dual-channel ABS models of the Jawa bikes in India will begin by the end of June. This was reported on the basis of a recent twitter conversation with the founder of Classic Legends Pvt Ltd (the company responsible for bringing Jawa back to India) Anupam Thereja which brought forth that the deliveries of the dual channel equipped version of the Jawa bikes will commence by the end of the month of June. The deliveries as usual will be made to the customers in the order of their bookings. Now there are reports that the deliveries of dual-channel ABS model of bikes have started. The dual channel ABS version of Jawa bikes are nearly Rs. 9,000 expensive than the single channel ABS version. However, the amount of safety that the dual channel ABS brings to the braking of the bike simply cannot be matched by single-channel ABS. The presence of the dual channel ABS not only brings down the stopping distance of the bike, it also enhances user’s control on the bike during braking.

For the uninitiated, let us inform you that Jawa had initially launched the bikes in the market only with the option of single channel ABS unit. However, looking at the customer response later the bike maker also decide to bring out the optional dual channel ABS version of the newly launched bikes. Since the decision to bring the dual channel ABS version of the bike was taken at a later stage, the deliveries of the dual channel version of Jawa bikes have also been delayed. However, the upcoming bobber from the company – Perak – will come equipped with a dual channel ABS unit as standard.

The single-channel ABS version of the Jawa Forty-Two is priced at Rs. 1.55 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the similar configuration Jawa Classic is priced at Rs. 1.64 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The dual-channel ABS version of the bikes, on the other hand, are priced at Rs. 1.64 lakhs and 1.73 lakhs respectively (both ex-showroom, Delhi).

Last year, the retro maker Jawa launched two bikes – Jawa and the Jawa 42. The two bikes come with different styling, but have identical mechanical parts. Both the bikes are mechanically identical but look different from each other. The Jawa Forty-Two and the Jawa Classic come with an ARAI certified mileage of 37.5 km/h. Although the mileage of the bikes is the same as Royal Enfield Classic 350, the main rival of the bikes, Jawa bikes are high on power and are also lighter. This is a major advantage for the Jawa duo as they can deliver better performance by the virtue of these two qualities. The two bikes come with the same single cylinder 293cc engine rated to deliver 27 Bhp and 28 Nm. The engine comes with a 6 speed manual gearbox as standard.
