The bike carries a premium of Rs 1.10 lakh over its 300cc sibling.

Kawasaki has launched the new Ninja 400 in India and it is priced at Rs 4.69 lakh (ex-showroom). The only colour on sale is the KRT-edition green colour. In international markets, the Ninja 400 has replaced the Ninja 300, but in India both bikes will be sold simultaneously.

This version is much sharper looking than its predecessor. You get split-LED headlights, and a part-analogue-part-digital instrument cluster. The bike uses a new liquid-cooled 399cc parallel-twin engine, which makes 45hp and 38Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission and Kawasaki claims that this bike handles much better than the previous version.

Yutaka Yamashita, Managing Director of India Kawasaki Motors said “The Ninja 300 is mainly made for beginners and the Ninja 650 is popular among experienced riders. However, the Ninja 400 fits the bill for those who are willing to buy a sports bike between 300 and 650cc. As of now the Ninja 400 will be available in limited numbers; because the Ninja 300 is still our flagship model in India and it will be continued along with other Ninja models.”

The Ninja 400 is lighter than the previous bike by 6kg and it features a smaller 13.6-litre fuel tank. You also get a larger 310mm disc brake at the front, and dual-channel ABS is standard.
