Lambretta is preparing to re-enter the Indian market at the 2020 Auto Expo.
Lambretta International, the Italian-Swiss scooter manufacturer is gearing up for a comeback in India soon. The company has already disclosed its plans of showcasing its global electric scooter, Lambretta Electric, at the Auto Expo 2020 in New Delhi. This is being done in a bid to comply to Lambretta's parent company, Innocenti's recognition of potential for electric scooters in India. The company has tied up with Noida-based Lohia Auto Ltd and Bird Group to sell their products in India.
Lambretta has partnered with a global company for the development of the new electric scooter prototype and the product is currently being developed in Milan, Italy. The company hasn't revealed any specifications of the upcoming product as they wish to do it during the unveiling of the product at the Auto Expo.
Lambretta is also developing another scooter called 'Super Lambretta' that will supposedly satiate the needs of the Indian customer. According to the company, the Super Lambretta will be a much bigger and spacious scooter in comparison to the current range of Lambretta scooters. It will claim a premium and upscale position in the Indian market owing to its classic rich look-and-feel. Lambretta is targeting the younger audience for the Super Lambretta.
Additionally, Lambretta plans on setting up an assembly plant near Mumbai which will also become a hub for exporting to developing markets like Africa and other surrounding countries.
