The bike will come here as a CBU and local production will start by end of 2018.

Norton launches Commando 961 Cafe Racer for Rs 23 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune), which is a special introductory price. The Commando 961 is finished in a silver shade. The brand is distributed by Motoroyale, and the company has said that it will import more based on demand, essentially following a ‘make to order’ method. The bike is built by hand at the company’s plant in Derby, UK and there will be a two to three month waiting period once you place the order.

Bookings have commenced in India for a token amount of Rs 11.5 lakh. Norton and Motoroyale announced a joint venture at the 2017 EICMA show, with Motoroyale offering to locally manufacture Norton motorcycles at its facility to meet overseas demand as well. Once local production commences by late 2018 or early 2019, you can expect prices to drop as well.

The Commando 961 Cafe Racer is a modern classic and takes design inspirations from classic cafe racers. The bike sold abroad is powered by a 961cc, parallel-twin motor that makes 80hp and 90Nm. The India-spec brochure though says the bike makes 71.9hp and 67Nm. These upcoming bikes will play a crucial role in establishing the Norton brand in India.
