Kawasaki has unveiled the Z400. It gets the same engine from the Ninja 400.

Kawasaki has taken the wraps off the smallest naked member of the Z family, the Z400. The Z400 is inspired by the Kawasaki’s Sugomi design philosophy just like other bikes in Z range. The Z400 shares most of the mechanical hardware from the Ninja 400.

The Z400 is based on the Ninja 400’s tubular steel trellis frame which is lighter and more rigid. The instrument cluster of the bike is fully digital and it gets an aggressive looking full LED headlight. The bike has a seat height of 785 mm and kerb weight is 167 kg.

The suspension and braking hardware are the same from the Ninja 400. The Z400 comes with conventional telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock. The braking of the bike is done by a 310 mm front disc brake and a floating disc at the rear, the bike gets dual-channel ABS as standard.

The Z400 is powered by a 399cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that churns out 49 PS of power and 38 Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission and slipper clutch as standard. Expect Kawasaki to bring this bike to India and price it competitively. The bike when launched will rival with the KTM Duke 390, Benelli TNT 300 and BMW G 310 R.
