Expected to be priced around Rs 9 Lakhs, 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross BS6 petrol launch is expected soon.

The Indian automobile industry is finally getting back to its feet after a couple of tragic months due to COVID-19. Automotive manufacturers had to shut down operations, thus delaying launches of new vehicles. Maruti Suzuki had begun operations in Manesar and now with production starting in Gurgaon, it is all geared up to launch the S-Cross BS6 in the coming days. The company had earlier showcased the upcoming SUV at the Indian Auto Expo in February 2020. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross BS6 petrol price could start around Rs 9 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom, India). It would be coming with an automatic gearbox for the first time in India.

The S-Cross BS6 model will comply with the new stringent vehicular pollution norms. The sale was to begin from March but was delayed due to the nationwide lockdown. Finally, it will go on sale in the coming couple of weeks.

The new S-Cross Petrol will be powered by a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine with no options for a diesel engine as of now. The 1.5L four-cylinder petrol motor churns out 112 bhp and 134 Nm of peak torque. The transmission system will be a five-speed manual and a four-speed torque converter automatic unit. The engine is already seen with Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6. In the earlier BS4 avatar, the S-Cross was powered by a 1.3-litre diesel engine that delivered 90 bhp power output with 200 Nm peak torque. The engine was coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Apart from the engine change, BS6 S-cross exterior design and cabin layout remain the same as the outgoing BS4 model except for the inclusion of a new 7-inch Smartplay Studio infotainment system. The infotainment system would support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other key features are a push-button start, Auto-Folding ORVMs, automatic climate control and cruise control. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross would be competing against other midsize SUVs like, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, Hyundai Creta in the Indian market.
