2020 Skoda Octavia to be showcased at Frankfurt motor show.

Czech automaker Skoda has announced that the company is all set to present the updated model of Octavia in the 2019 Frankfurt motor show in September. The long awaited 2020 Octavia will be a thoroughly updated car as this update will bring a fresh model of the car to the market. One can expect a bevy of changes on the sedan from the brand as this will be the next generation model of the sedan that was launched in the Indian market in 2013. The expected launch timeline for the car in the Indian market is supposed to be sometime around the end of 2020.

The new model of the Czech maker's sedan will come with new engine, fresh interiors, updated features list and a new platform as well. The spyshots and leaks have already revealed that the platform underpinning the car will be the parent company Volkswagen's MQB platform that is also found on many cars from the two brands. The coupe inspired design of the sedan was expected to be continued but the new shots of the car have revealed that the new model of the sedan could come with a larger boot lid protrusion thereby giving it more conventional sedan looks.

The overall silhouette of the car is expected to be more or less the same with some minor changes here and there. A major change on the new generation Octavia could be the company deciding to move away from the current split headlamps design of the sedan and bring the new design language to the model. This design is already seen on the Scala and Kamiq by the company. The new design would also see changes to the current grille design of the sedan with the new generation probably coming with a sleeker and more wide look. However, the headlamps and tail lamps of the upper trims of the sedan will still be LED units with the brand's Matrix LED design also being seen on the new generation model.

Apart from the update to the exterior styling of the sedan, one can also expect the new generation model to feature more premium material inside the cabin. Complimenting this new interior will be the updated layout of the dash of the car and a plethora of new features. This will surely take up the appeal of the already premium and feature laden Skoda Octavia in the market. Expected new features could be the presence of voice control, heads-up display, and soft touch materials inside the cabin.

The company will offer hybrid variants of the Octavia in the global markets and will also offer the car in various engine configurations. However, seeing that by the time the car will be launched in India, BS-VI emission norms will be in full swing, the Czech maker is likely to offer 1.5L turbo petrol motor and the updated version of 2L diesel engine. These engines will meet the norms set by the BS-VI emission regime.
