Maruti Wagon R S-CNG BS 6 Launched at Rs 5.25 Lakhs

The Wagon R is Maruti's third BS 6 compliant S-CNG model after Ertiga and Alto.

Maruti Suzuki has launched the BS 6 Wagon R S-CNG at a starting price of Rs 5.25 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. The company has embarked on a Mission Green Million which was announced at the Auto Expo-2020. Under this mission, Maruti will introduce CNG variants of its entire product portfolio in the Indian market. The Wagon R is the company's third BS 6 compliant CNG product in India.

Speaking of BS 6 Maruti Suzuki Wagon R S-CNG, it comes with a tank capacity of 60 litres (water equivalent) while delivering a mileage of 32.52km/kg. The hatch, identical to every S-CNG model, is equipped with dual interdependent ECUs (Electronic Control Units) and intelligent injection system. The factory-fitted CNG kit is specially tuned. Maruti has launched the CNG variant in two grades: Lxi and Lxi (O) with prices Rs 5.25 Lakhs and 5.32 Lakhs, respectively (Both are Ex. showroom, Delhi). Last week, BS 6 Maruti Ertiga S-CNG was launched at a price of Rs 8.95 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki has already sold one million green vehicles (including CNG, Smart Hybrid vehicles) in the country. And with the Mission Green Million, the country's biggest automaker intends to sell the next 1 million green vehicles in the next couple of years. In addition, the introduction of S-CNG range of vehicles is in line with Indian Government's vision of reducing oil import and enhancing the share of natural gas in the energy basket of the country from 6.2 percent now to 15 percent by 2030. The Union Government is also working aggressively on the expansion of CNG fuel pumps network in the country.
