Kawasaki Ninja ZX10R and ZX10RR were in the news recently for winning the WorldSBK world championship for the sixth year in running. Now, Kawasaki has unveiled the 2021 Ninja ZX10R and ZX10RR models with their India launch expected to take place next year. The new superbikes will come with major updates in design, styling, features and engine giving the Indian buyers something new to look forward to. Only last week, images of these bikes were revealed at the WorldSBK world championship in Jerez, Spain.
The upcoming 2021 Kawasaki ZX10R will be sold in two variants - ABS and non--ABS. In India, it will retail in just the ABS trim as the Indian government has made it mandatory for better safety. Colour options available on this model include Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Matte Carbon Gray while the KRT Edition will retail in Lime Green/Ebony/Pearl Blizzard White. On the other hand, Kawasaki ZX10RR will be offered in only one colour scheme namely Lime Green. Talking about the expected price, the current generation model costs around Rs 13.99 lakhs (ex-showroom- India). With the new introductions, the price could start from around Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom), India considering that they are BS6 compliant and offer new features.
Moving on-to design, the new ZX10R & ZX10RR is aerodynamically improved to provide lower drag resistance and increases the downforce significantly. The aerodynamic influence is strengthened by addition of slots in the rear tail cowl. Additionally, the Japanese two-wheeler giant has added LED headlights upfront while the rear stands to provide an LED tail lamp. Plus, the manufacturer has added a pair of new cowling-mounted mirrors with LED turn indicators.
Their electronic equipment list on-board comprise of Bosch six-axis IMU, Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF), Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System (KIBS) among many others. The bikes further comes with a multifunctional 4.3-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and Rideology App. Other exciting features are comprise of 5 different traction control modes, engine braking control, 3 power modes and cornering ABS function.
New Kawasaki Ninja ZX10RR and ZX10R are powered by a BS6 compliant 998cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine. Their new power output figures have not yet been revealed, but expect them to be similar to the current model. Thus the current powertrain produces a maximum power output of 203 bhp with 15 Nm of peak torque. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Other updates include revamped intake ports and valve train, titanium intake and exhaust valves. Suspension duties are taken care by Showa Balance fork at the front and gas-powered rear shock absorber.
