KTM India is all set to launch the Duke and RC family BS6 models in the month of January 2020. The KTM BS6 versions will be introduced in a progressive manner, starting with the 250 Duke, then the 390 Duke and preceded by the RC 390. These are scheduled to go on sale within a couple of days.
The KTM 200 Duke and RC 200, which will be available in BS6 form by the end of January 2020, will carry on from this. It's relevant to note that perhaps the KTM 125 Duke and RC 125, as of now, do not include this BS6 platform roll out. The BS4 KTM 125s will continue to sell as per our sources until the end of February 2020, whereas the BS6 models will go on sale in March 2020.
The switch to BS6 is expected to increase the KTM's price across the spectrum and it will be fascinating to see if KTM throws additional features to sweeten the deal. Also, considering the performance-oriented design of these KTMs (especially the 390s), it will be important to see whether the company will keep the current power statistics when updating the engines to BS6.
To conclude, all current two-wheelers on sale in India must update to conform with the BS6 emission standards due to come in from April 2020. Both two-wheeler producers are updating their current line-up to comply with the order and over the next few months there will be a slew of launches.
