Ford to import Ranger Raptor to India as a CBU; likely to be launched in 2021

Ford Motor Company is prepping to introduce the performance-oriented Ranger Raptor pick-up in the Indian market in the second quarter of 2021. The Ranger Raptor will be imported as a CBU into India. Thus, only limited units of the upcoming Ford pick-up will be available in the country. We can expect its price to be around Rs 70 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The upcoming Ford Raptor will provide a high ground clearance of 283mm, water wading depth of 800mm, and large 285mm tyres. All these attributes make it a true off-roader. It also gets purpose-built 2.5 inches (diameter) off-road racing coil overs from race truck specialist Fox. Due to this, the Ranger gets 30 percent more of wheel travel.

In terms of design, the upcoming Ford pick-up features a Raptor grille with iconic block FORD lettering. In addition, it also caters to new LED fog lamps with functional air-curtain ducts integrated on the front bumper. Other design bits include dent resistance front fenders, a new rear bumper with an integrated tow bar & two recovery hooks, and flush sensor bezels.

As for interiors, the new Ford Ranger Raptor gets a newly designed steering wheel with new lightweight magnesium paddle shifters. Furthermore, the blue stitching, leather accents, and perforated leather hand grip sections give a sporty appeal to the four-wheeler.

Performance-wise, the Ford Ranger Raptor will offer a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine. While being paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox, the motor is tuned to generate a maximum power of 213 bhp and a peak torque of 500 Nm. There is also a 4WD system on offer. Furthermore, the four-wheeler will also provide a Terrain Management system having six modes namely Rock, Gravel, Grass, Snow, Climbing, and Baja.
