It is a widely known fact that the Indian auto industry is facing a season of slump in sales, but things are particularly worrisome for the Japanese two wheeler maker Honda as the company is in the period of one of its biggest sales slowdown in India, ever. It was only recently that the brand had announced a scale back in production in order to prevent inventory pile-up and now the brand has resorted to other measures in order to boost the sales of its products in the Indian market. The latest move by the brand is the launch of a limited edition dual tone Activa 5G automatic scooter to boost sales. Activa is the best selling model line-up of the brand but the recent sales slowdown has also impacted the bread and butter model of the company drastically. Nevertheless, the brand has tried with the new dual tone version of the Activa. The new model of the scooter will be available in two shades: Pearl Precious white with Matte Selene Silver and Strontium Silver Metallic with Pearl Igneous Black. The prices for the dual tone model starts at Rs. 55,032, ex-showroom Delhi.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, the Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India spoke on the launch of the new variant of the Activa 5G and stated,
Customer conviction has made Honda India’s Most trusted 2Wheeler brand. Celebrating the legacy of India’s Top Selling model – Activa , Honda is now taking the excitement to another level. We are pleased to announce a surprise for our customers with the launch of premium style Limited Edition Activa 5G.
The brand hopes that the new dual tone variant of the scooter will attract more customers to the showrooms due to the fresh look of the model. Talking of the new variant of the scooter, the dual tone paint job aside, the Activa 5G also comes with matte black finished rims, chrome covered exhaust muffler, engine painted in black shade, grab rail finished in a contrasting shade, and a contrast colored seat as well. The new aesthetic tweaks on the scooter sure make it appear fresher and premium than before. This also does not come at a greater premium as the price for the limited edition is only nominally higher than the normal models. The new variant of the Activa 5G comes at price difference of Rs. 400 as compared to the normal models.
There are no mechanical changes on the limited edition of the model and the automatic scooter still comes with a 110cc petrol engine rated to deliver 8 Bhp and 9 Nm. The engine is paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. Activa is known for its smooth and reliable nature in the market and continues to top the segment sales chart despite the slowdown.
