The Second-Generation Hyundai Creta gets a totally new look with an all-new engine lineup. On the other hand, MG Hector comes with a distinctive design and a spacious cabin with an exhaustive features list. Here is a detailed comparison between the top-selling SUV, MG Hector against its rival the Next Generation Hyundai Creta.

Next-Generation Hyundai Creta vs MG Hector: Price in India

Next-Generation Hyundai Creta is all set to be launched on March 17, 2020, in India. It will be available in five variants: E, EX, S, SX, and SX(O). Competing against the likes of MG Hector, Kia Seltos, Renault Captur, and Nissan Kicks, this SUV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakhs - Rs 17 lakhs (ex-showroom).

While MG Hector is available in four variants: Style, Super, Smart, and Sharp. Competing against the likes of Next Generation Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500, the five-seater SUV is priced in the range of Rs 12.48 lakhs - Rs 17.28 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Next-Generation Hyundai Creta vs MG Hector: Engine Specification

Mechanically, the next-gen Hyundai Creta comes with three BS-6 compliant engine options borrowed from Kia Seltos - a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol producing 115 bhp power and 144 Nm torque, a 1.5-litre diesel delivering a power output of 115 bhp with 250 Nm of peak torque, and a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol chruning out a max-power of 140 bhp and 242 Nm torque. A six-speed manual transmission will be available with the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5-litre petrol will be offered with a CVT, whereas the diesel is offered with a 6-speed torque converter. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol will be available with a 7-speed DCT only.

On the other hand, MG Hector is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that produces 143 bhp power and 250 Nm of torque. The petrol variant also gets a 48V mild-hybrid system as an option. It also offers a 2.0-litre Turbo Charged diesel engine that produces 170 bhp of power output with 350 Nm of peak torque. The IC engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The mild-hybrid petrol engine gets an optional 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission. 

Next-Generation Hyundai Creta vs MG Hector: Exterior Updates

Next-gen Hyundai Creta flaunts Hyundai’s new design language of “Sensuous Sportiness” with the new cascading grille. It also gets split LED headlamps with DRLs and a new front bumper with faux skid plates. The side profile is highlighted by the addition of new dual-tone alloy wheels while the split light layout makes its way to the tail lamp cluster. 

Whereas MG Hector flaunts a massive black mesh grille with sleek chrome surroundings. The headlamps are mounted in the bumper along with DRLs positioned right at the top, close to the hood. It offers dual-tone alloy wheels.

Next-Generation Hyundai Creta vs MG Hector: Interior Updates

Next-gen Hyundai Creta boasts of a futuristic interior cabin with a plethora of advanced and upmarket features. It gets an all-new dashboard layout and AC vents. Other highlighted premium features include infinity premium multi-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control with rear vents, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof, and a touchscreen infotainment system with Hyundai BlueLink tech. It also offers a host of safety elements that include six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear and front parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.

On the other hand, MG Hector boasts a 10.4-inch infotainment system integrated with Apple Car Play and Android Auto, Automatic Climate Control, Colored MID, Cruise Control along with full LED lighting. The cabin comes with a premium interior and faux leather upholstery. The Hector SUV also offers standard safety features that include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, traction control, rear disc brakes, hill-hold assist, and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
