Hyundai Motor Company inaugurated its Corporate Headquarters in Gurgaon today. To commemorate this special occasion, Hyundai showcased the Ioniq 5 and Genesis G80 sedan & GV80 SUV at the event.
Talking about the Ioniq 5, it is the first model under Hyundai’s new 'Ioniq' electric sub-brand. It is further based on the brand’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). Performance-wise, the electric vehicle comes with two battery options - 58 kWh and 72.6 kWh that further offer up to 480 km of maximum range (WLTP cycle). Besides this, customers also get an option to make a choice between a single-motor or dual-motor version. The base variant of the Ioniq 5 comes with a 58 kWh electric motor that drives the rear wheel. The motor produces 165 bhp power and 350 Nm peak torque. It further accelerates from 0-100 kmph in 8.5 seconds. The top-end variant comes with a 72.6 kWh electric motor. Here, in this case, the single-motor version generates a top power output of 211 bhp and a peak torque of 350 Nm. While the dual-motor version develops 298 bhp power and 605 Nm peak torque. Furthermore, the vehicle is claimed to achieve a top speed of 100 kmph in 5.2 seconds. With the help of a 350 kW fast charger, Hyundai Ioniq 5 can be charged from 10-80 percent in around 18 minutes.
Moving on to the Genesis models, the G80 sedan has been spied on the Indian roads earlier this year. The mid-range luxury sedan, mechanically, is offered with three engine options - a 2.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol, a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol, and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, in the global market. All three engines are linked to an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. Besides this, the G80 rivals the likes of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series.
The Genesis GV80 SUV, on the other hand, is based on the G80 sedan. Performance-wise, it comes packed with three engine options. These include a 2.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol, a 3.5-litre turbo V6 petrol, and a straight-6 3.0-litre diesel unit. The SUV further competes against the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X5.
