Hyundai Staria MPV will be equipped with futuristic design elements and driver-centric features

Hyundai Motor Company has released the first set of teaser images of the upcoming Staria MPV ahead of the official launch. Images of the same have surfaced online. Expected to go on sale later this year, Hyundai Staria will be replacing the iMax in the Australian market. The South Korean automaker had trademarked the name ‘Staria’ on June 1 last year at the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines. The company had further filed another trademark for the name ‘Staria Premium’ on September 15, 2020. This confirms that Hyundai Staria MPV will be sold in Staria and Staria Premium variants.

Cosmetically, the upcoming MPV resembles a spaceship due to the presence of large panoramic windows and lower belt lines. Upfront, it gets long horizontal DRLs with headlamps positioned underneath. In addition, it also features a wide front grille with a Hyundai badge mounted on the slanting bonnet. On the sides, it gets pull-in door handles. Hyundai has not revealed any details related to the specifications or features yet. However, the company plans to equip the MPV with various driver-centric features. Hyundai Staria Premium will be made available in select markets only. It will sport premium features and exclusive finishes to give a luxurious feel.

"STARIA is Hyundai's new MPV lineup that opens up a new mobility era. STARIA will provide a completely new experience and value proposition for customers through its unprecedented design features," as commented by  SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Global Hyundai Design.

Talking about the powertrain options, we can expect the India-bound MPV to get either a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine or a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are expected to be on offer.
