Coronavirus epidemic is causing untold suffering across the world with China, Europe and Italy in particular affected by the virus. COVID-19 is impacting the automobile industry with cancelled Auto Shows, delay in deliveries, shutdown of factories and disruption of supply chain cycle. Classic Legends is the latest automobile company to bear the fallout of Coronavirus outbreak with the deliveries of Jawa Perak delayed indefinitely. Jawa Perak bookings had already started with the deliveries were expected to begin from the 2nd of April 2020. With the ongoing crisis, Classic legends have indefinitely delayed deliveries of Jawa Perak to the Indian customers.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd-owned Classic Legends Pvt Ltd has shut down production at its Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh plant due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The company alluded the delay to a variety of factors like the dependency on Chinese manufacturers for components like Nikasil coating, and speedometer LCD. Component suppliers are in various stages of closure affecting production schedules and deliveries. Disruption in the deliveries of Jawa and Forty Two in the months of February and March was also noticed with the situation not expected to improve in April too.

Classic legends in their statement to media outlets gave some positive news also that the Chinese factories are giving production dates and everyone’s eye is on Indian situation to normalize. The motorcycle manufacturer expects the Pithampur plant capacity to produce up to 10,000 motorcycles unit once the crisis ends. Jawa Perak is powered by a BS6-compliant, 334cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates 30bhp and 31Nm of peak torque. The motorcycle is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Classic Legends launched the BS6 Jawa and Jawa Forty Two in March with a starting price of Rs 1.73 lakhs and Rs 1.60 lakhs respectively (Ex-Showroom). While the Jawa Perak price stands at Rs 1.94 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom).
