Today, Kia Motors India stated that it will launch its new Carnival MPV at the 2020 Auto Expo, which will start on February 5. While the doors of the event will only open to the public on February 7, only selected media will be pressed for the two days before. The Kia Carnival, expected to be slightly higher than the BS6 Toyota Innova Crysta (especially in diesel form), is a slightly larger and much more premium MPV.
A variety of specifics about the Carnival are now common knowledge – it will be available in 6-, 7- and 8-seat configurations, a 2.2-liter diesel engine and a rear entertainment system that includes two 10.1-inch screens. A few more information about the MPV emerged earlier this morning, including the diesel unit output, the 8-speed automatic gearbox, its boot size, features that will be available with the top-spec models and more.
While a price tag of around Rs 30 lakh (estimated, ex-showroom) can appear on the higher side, note that prices for the Innova Crysta – currently retailing the petrol versions at Rs 15.13-21.23 lakh * and the diesel models at Rs 15.87-22.63 lakh * – will increase when the MPV receives BS6-compliant engines, especially diesel.
Kia India is expected to commence bookings for the SUV on the day of its launch, but the pricing details are likely to be revealed in January 2024.
