With the entry into the new year, Kia Motors has embarked on a new path. They unveiled a brand-new corporate logo as well as a completely new brand slogan. If one observes the new logo, it looks like a handwritten signature. The new logo will be making an appearance on the New Kia vehicles arriving in the global markets by 2022. For the Indian market, there was no clarity on its introduction. Thanks to our friends at Autocar India, we can confirm the debut of the new logo by the middle of the current year. Two models namely Seltos and Sonet SUV's will be the first ones to feature the brand-new logo. Kia Sonet has been a roaring success in the lucrative subcompact SUV segment while Seltos was one of the best-selling models in the compact SUV space. Also, the upcoming Kia MPV will be featuring the handwritten style logo.
The new logo will replace the existing one which has been in place since 1994. The current insignia received a minor tweak in 2012 but remained essentially the same. According to the South Korean automaker, the new logo underlines its ambitions in the global automotive industry.
Apart from the logo change, the manufacturer plans to expand its operations from automobile production to developing mobility products and services. This change follows Kia Motors ‘Plan S’ long-term business plans announced last year. Under the new strategy, the automaker has ambitions of leading the global automotive market in the coming years. Not just that, the manufacturer also plans to expand its EV portfolio with the addition of new models in the near future. Considering consumer’s interest in sustainable mode of transportation, Kia sees an opportunity in the EV segment. Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Jaguar, BMW among others who are keen to gain a slice of the market and Kia does not want to miss out on this opportunity.
