Kia Sonet bookings open, display begins at showrooms across the country

Kia Motors is all set to launch its third offering Seltos in the Indian market next month. The company had commenced bookings of the subcompact SUV at a token amount of Rs 25,000 a few days back. It even managed to set a new milestone by bagging 6500 plus bookings on the first day itself and shot past 10,000 units in a short span of time. Selected dealers of Kia Motors have officially unveiled the SUV in their showroom. One of the dealers, Taapasi Kia located in Bangalore organized a grand event to unveil the SUV in front of the customers who have already booked it. The test drives have not commenced yet but we can expect it to start anytime soon.

Kia Sonet will be offered in two variants with a total of six trims. The Tech Line variant will be offered in five trims namely HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, and HTX+. While the GT Line variant will come as a single fully loaded trim GTX+. The subcompact SUV is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 6.6 lakhs - Rs 12.9 lakhs (ex-showroom). Kia Sonet is all set to rival the likes of Hyundai Venue once launched. It was expected to get a similar pricing strategy as the Venue. But now we can expect the starting price of Kia Sonet to be Rs 15,000 more than that of Hyundai Venue.

Kia has equipped the Sonet with some first-in-segment features. These include the largest in segment 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, BOSE premium seven-speaker audio with sub-woofer, LED Sound Mood Lighting, OTA map updates, multi-drive & traction modes along with grip control, and wireless smartphone charger with cooling function. The cabin of the SUV will also boast of ventilated front seats with India’s first smart air purifier having virus protection.

Talking about the engine specifications, then Kia Sonet will be offered with three engine options. The petrol variants will get a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There will also be a 1.0-litre GDi turbo petrol engine mated to a 6-speed iMT gearbox along with 7-speed DCT transmission as an option. The diesel variants, on the other hand, will be powered by a 1.5-litre engine linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox along with 6-speed automatic gearbox as an option.
