The Ace and Misfit models will be assembled in India.

American motorcycle outfit Cleveland CycleWerks has finally inaugurated its assembly facility on the outskirts of Pune, Maharashtra. The company will launch two models in India first - the Misfit and the Ace. The Ace will be sold in three variants – Cafe, Deluxe and Scrambler.

The company will import CKD kits from China and will locally assemble them in Pune. Both bikes run on a 229cc, OHV, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor which makes 15.4hp and 16Nm, and the engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox.

Both bikes should offer at least single-channel ABS as standard, as required by the current norms. Hyderabad-based Laish-Madison Motor Werks is partnering with the American firm for production and distribution in India. Cleveland will have nine sales and service outlets in place when the bikes are going to be launched, with a plan to hike that number to a sizeable 30 before the end of the year.
