Mahindra Electric has announced that its electric vehicles, the e2o and e2o Plus, have contributed to a saving of 2,50,000kg worth of carbon dioxide emissions. This feat is equivalent to planting 25,000 new trees. Mahindra claims that the milestone showcases a more eco-friendly future for the country and encourages the Electric Mobility revolution.
Moreover, the milestone is also in line with the Indian government’s policy to become an all-electric nation by 2030. The CEO of Mahindra Electric, Mahesh Babu, claimed that the distance travelled by the electric cars is the equivalent of driving to Mars. The top-spec e2o Plus is powered by a 72V battery back, with a claimed range of 140km. The battery powers a motor with a peak output of 41hp and 91Nm. The lower spec variants come with a 48V battery. These models are built at Mahindra’s electric facility in Bengaluru and, at the moment, both e2o and the e2o Plus have no direct competition in India.
Hyundai India will also distribute complimentary saplings to visiting customers on World Environment Day, which falls on June 5, 2020.
