Maruti Ignis BS 6 Facelift Breaks Cover at 2020 Auto Expo

Maruti Ignis has been unveiled in the country with cosmetic and mechanical updates.

Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the much-awaited Ignis facelift at the ongoing 2020 Auto Expo. The company is showcasing several new vehicles at Auto Expo 2020. The Vitara Brezza facelift was launched a day back in India. Maruti Ignis facelift is being offered with petrol fuel trims in four grades: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. It will challenge the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and Tata H2X in the Indian market.

The Ignis facelift is a bit different to its predecessor as it will be retailed through the NEXA premium chain of showrooms in the country alongside Ciaz and Baleno. The company has made substantial cosmetic updates to the micro-SUV which also includes several new features. It flaunts a new square-shaped front grille which has been borrowed from the S-Presso. The grille also gets chrome inserts to make it appear even more premium. The micro-SUV also boasts of restyled bumpers with faux scuff plates at the front as well as the rear. The side profile is majorly retained from the preceding model with blackened B-pillar and ORVMs with integrated indicators. It rides on new alloy wheels now.

Maruti Ignis facelift is equipped with dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors, seat-belt reminder system and speed alert as standard safety features. The Ignis facelift 2020 draws power from the BS6 compliant 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine which also does duties it the Swift and DZire. It develops a maximum power output of 82bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 113Nm at 4000rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard while an optional AMT gearbox is also on offer with all the variants, except the entry-level Sigma variant.
