Maruti Suzuki has finally rolled out Bharat Stage (BS) VI-compliant variant of the Wagon R.  The company in an exchange filing has stated that the Wagon R – 1 litre petrol variant has been introduced in BSVI compliant norms.

What are the BSVI Emission Norms?

The BS-VI emission norms are the latest standards that aim to tame the release the air pollutants from engines of the vehicles. 

The norms are based on the European regulations that were first introduced in the year 2000.

It was in the year 2016 that the government decided to skip the BSV norms and jump to BSVI norms and adopt it by the year 2020. The Wagon R model was the 6th most selling car in the country in the last month. The list was dominated by cars like Maruti Dzire, Maruti Swift, Maruti Alto, Maruti Baleno, and Hyundai i20. The sales figures of the wagon r have improved by 34.8% when compared with October 2108. In fact, the company sold 10,655 units of Wagon R  in October 2018  while in this October, 14,359 units were sold.

Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 2019 Specifications:

The car is powered by a 1.0-liter petrol engine that produces 67bhp of power and 90Nm of torque. The engine is mated with a 5-speed manual or 5-speed automatic gearbox.

Although the Wagon R received a 2-star rating in the latest Global NCAP crash test, the tallboy is still in the demand.

The Price Hike:

The car model gets a price hike in the range of Rs. 3000 to Rs. 30,000 depending upon the variant.

The BSVI compliant Maruti Suzuki Wagon R now has an ex-showroom price in the range of Rs 4.42 lakh up to Rs 5.41 lakh.
