Mercedes EQC SUV can now be charged in 7 hours 30 minutes with its 11 kW onboard charger

Mercedes Benz India has upgraded its first electric vehicle EQC with an 11kW onboard charger. This new technological up-gradation reduces the charging time by about 2.5 hours. Its 8 kWh battery can now be charged from 10-100 percent in just 7 hours 30 minutes. The older 7.4 kW charger took 11 hours to charge the battery. Furthermore, the charging time reduces drastically if the electric SUV is charged using a DC fast charger.

Mercedes Benz launched the fully-electric EQC SUV at a price point of Rs 99.30 lakh (ex-showroom). This has further encouraged the brand to make its first move in the premium EV space in the domestic market. The EQC is based on the same platform as the GLC crossover. In terms of design, it features a piano black grille surrounded by LED twin headlamps upfront. Towards the rear, the four-wheeler gets sleek tail-lamps connected by a light band and bumper with chrome garnish. Mercedes has equipped the EQC with a plethora of features. These include a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the latest MBUX touchscreen infotainment system, sunroof, blind-spot monitoring system, and wireless charger among others.

Under the bonnet, the all-electric SUV is powered by an 80KWH lithium-ion battery that powers two asynchronous motors, one placed on each axle. Furthermore, the EQC delivers 408 bhp power and 765 Nm torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 5.1 seconds with top speed electronically limited to 180kmph.
