New Features on New TVS Jupiter

TVS Motors has just launched the Jupiter Grande automatic scooter at a price of Rs. 62,346, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Grande is a new variant of the best-selling Jupiter line-up, and is also India’s first 110cc scooter to get Bluetooth connectivity. Owners of this scooter can use an App to sync their Android and Apple smartphones to its instrument cluster. This will beam call notification, text notification to the instrument cluster and will also send over speeding alert and trip report to the smartphone. The Jupiter Grande gets a slew of visual upgrades to look fresher than before. However, it’s mechanically unchanged. The TVS Jupiter Grande directly challenges India’s bestselling automatic scooter – the Honda Activa 5G. The launch of the Jupiter Grande comes at a time when the Indian two-wheeler sector is going through one of its worst slowdowns. It’s meant to boost sales during the festive season.

Talking of the scooter’s mechanicals, it’s powered by a 110cc four stroke single cylinder engine that makes 7.89 BHP of peak power at 7,500 rpm and 8.4 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a CVT automatic gearbox. These numbers are comparable to what the Honda Activa 110 makes, and is more than enough for everyday use.

The Jupiter Grande is a unisex scooter meant mainly for buyers from urban parts of India. Dimension-ally, it measures 1,834 mm in length, 650 mm in width and 1,115 mm in height. The scooter has a wheelbase of 1,275 mm and a seat height of 765 mm. A five-liter fuel tank with an external fuel filler cap is on offer, and the scooter weighs 108 kilograms, which makes it quite manageable for most riders.

In terms of stylistic changes, the TVS Jupiter Grande offers a dual-tone bodywork and a cross-stitch maroon seat as key changes from the regular Jupiter. Features on the scooter include an LED headlamp, diamond cut alloy wheels, an adjustable rear shock absorber, telescopic front forks, a disc brake on the front wheel and a drum brake on the rear wheel.  A combi-braking system is standard. Automatic scooters are one of the biggest and fastest growing segments of two wheelers in India. These scooters are quite popular both among the old and young as they’re very convenient to ride in city traffic. The automatic transmission that’s standard makes them hassle free. Also, the wide footboards of such scooters make it convenient for saree-clad women, another reason why such scooter are popular among both men and women.
