2020 Hyundai i20 has been spotted testing alongside the older version of i20 Active, which is no longer sold in the country

Hyundai India is all set to launch the new-gen i20 hatchback during the festive season around October-November this year in the Indian market. However, ahead of the launch, it has been spotted testing alongside the older version of i20 Active, which is no longer sold in the country. Upon comparing the two vehicles closely, it can be said that the new-gen Hyundai i20 is slightly shorter than the i20 Active in terms of height. The new hatchback has been spied several times on the Indian roads, albeit most notably last month without any camouflage while exposing the front fascia.

The i20 Active appears taller than the new-gen i20 due to the raised suspension setup and the presence of roof rails. Riding on black-colored 5-spoke alloy wheels, it will come loaded with an array of advanced features. Some of the expected bells and whistles include full LED headlamps, LED tail-lamp cluster, all digital instrument console, LED ambient lighting, Bose sound system with 8 speakers, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is learnt that Hyundai might also offer the Blue Link Telematics with several connected car features. The 2020 Hyundai i20 safety features will be dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensor among others.

Mechanically, the new-gen i20 will have the same engine options as the Venue sub-compact SUV. The petrol variants will be offered with a naturally aspirated 1.2L engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the diesel variants will be powered by a 1.5L CRDi engine with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Furthermore, it is also believed that the company might also offer the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with the diesel engine. The petrol variants will also get the 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic unit. Hyundai i20 will take on the likes of Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Baleno and Toyota Glanza in the Indian market.
