New-Gen Kia Carnival India launch will only happen by mid 2022.

Kia Motors has started teasing the next-gen Carnival MPV ahead of its world premiere in August-September 2020. It is expected to go on sale in several European markets in 2021 while India launch will only happen by mid 2022. The next-gen Kia Carnival will replace the ongoing model of the MPV in India probably two years later as the current model was launched just a few months back at the 2020 Auto Expo. The recent reports stated that the top-spec Limousine trim of the MPV has seen decent demand in the Indian market.

The new-gen Kia Carnival will come with fresh styling, which will be in accordance with the latest range of company cars. The rendered image by oversized wheels shows the MPV flaunting a squatish stance and clean lines. It will debut Kia's all-new ‘Symphonic architecture’ design language with signature Tiger nose grille and LED headlamps upfront. The blackened-out pillars result in a sloping roofline while a shoulder line which runs from the front to all the way to the rear connects the headlamps and tail-lamp cluster. The new-gen model will be grown up in size as compared to the current model as it will be 40mm longer and 10mm wider. In addition, the wheelbase will be increased by 30mm which will make the cabin even more spacious.

Kia is planning to introduce the new-gen Carnival in several seating configurations, including a 11-seater version. The company is planning to attract travel agents and operators by launching the base variants in 11-seater option. The top-end trims are going to be as lavish as the Toyota Vellfire and the South-Korean automaker is contemplating a never-seen-before four-seat configuration with captain seats in the second row as well. The rear seats will feature heating, ventilation and electric recline features as standard in the four-seater version. Mechanically, the 2021 Kia Carnival will retain the present 2.2L diesel engine, albeit in an updated avatar. Additionally, there will be a 280bhp 2.5L turbocharged petrol (borrowed from the Sorento SUV) and a 1.6L petrol-hybrid engine.
