Mini is set to introduce a next-generation iteration of its five-door Cooper hatchback, as confirmed by the brand's leader, Stefanie Wurst. Owned by BMW, Mini is preparing for a comprehensive overhaul of its entire vehicle range, including the recently unveiled Mini Cooper 3-door hatchback, which will be available with both electric and petrol propulsion options. While Mini had previously not officially announced a five-door variant for the iconic hatchback, raising the possibility of it being replaced by the forthcoming Aceman EV SUV, this is no longer the case. It is also expected that Mini will offer three-door Coopers, five-door hatchbacks, convertibles, Acemans, and Countrymans in the future.

During the ongoing Munich motor show, when questioned by Autocar UK, a subsidiary publication, about the potential expansion of the Mini vehicle range, Wurst stated, "Our current focus is on launching the recently announced family of vehicles. The Aceman model is still pending, and we have plans for the introduction of John Cooper Works variants. Although we have only discussed the three-door model, a five-door variant is also in the pipeline, along with a convertible option."

It's worth noting that the new-generation Mini electric vehicles (EVs) and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles are built on distinct and dedicated platforms. This approach is likely to extend to the upcoming Mini Cooper five-door model. Additionally, the John Cooper Works versions of the Mini three-door hatch are confirmed to debut in 2025, and there is potential for similar variants to be introduced for the five-door hatch.

Wurst clarified that the Mini lineup does not have plans for significant expansion in the future. Plans for a production version of the Mini Urbanaut MPV, which was showcased at the 2021 Munich show, are currently on hold. As for the 2024 Mini India lineup, the brand currently offers the three-door Cooper hatch and the Countryman SUV in both diesel and petrol configurations. The Mini Cooper EV three-door is expected to be introduced in India next year, with the possibility of the five-door version following suit, although there has been no official confirmation from the brand regarding this expansion.
