As the next-gen 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is inching closer to its launch in India, we are seeing more and more spy images of the SUV being captured on countryside roads. This time around, the interior of the new SUV has been completely exposed in a new set of spy-shots. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is all set to launch in April in the Indian market as the production of the current-gen model is expected to end by January. For those asking, contrary to earlier reports, the ongoing model will not be sold alongside the new-gen SUV as it will be discontinued before the launch of the new model.
The next-gen 2021 Mahindra XUV500 interior cabin will be advanced and upmarket with several first-in-segment features. The spy-images reveal that the SUV will boast of leather beige upholstery while features will include panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents and multiple USB charging points. The third row will get 50:50 split seats with fully foldable function to create extra space for luggage. Mahindra is providing three-point seat belts even for the third row occupants. The front row also consists of huge cup-holders with rotary dial which could be for selecting the drive modes. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is expected to debut segment-first Level 1 autonomous driving technology which we generally see in high-end luxury cars.
As part of the Level 1 autonomous driving technology, the SUV will get striking features in the form of autonomous emergency braking, parallel park assist, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning and many more. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 engines will include a 2.0L turbocharged mStallion T-GDi unit and a 2.0L CRDi diesel mill. The engines will come paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while a 6-speed automatic gearbox will be available as an option. There is no word on the 4x4 drive system being a part of the SUV line-up. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 price would start at around Rs 15 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) as it will be nearly Rs 1-1.50 Lakhs more expensive than the present range which starts at Rs 13.51 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
