Range Rover Velar to get more affordable in the Indian market thanks to the commencement of local assembly in the country starting January 2019. Land Rover has finally decided to assemble the Velar in India from next month onwards. The luxury SUV was launched in India early this year and was quite appreciated specially for the exterior and interior design.
Jaguar Land Rover will assemble the Range Rover Velar at the Tata Motors plant in Pune, Maharashtra. The Velar was introduced to the Indian market in the CBU form and the starting price of the British SUV is Rs. 83.33 lakhs (ex-showroom). We expect Jaguar Land Rover to cut the price by Rs. 10-15 lakhs after thet start assembling the Velar locally in India.
From the Jaguar Land Rover family, this is not the first SUV to get local assembly in India. The Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque as well as the Jaguar F-Pace are currently being assembled in India locally. The CKD units will be available with both petrol and diesel powertrains while we can expect the 3.0-litre powered units to continue CBU imports in India.
