Royal Enfield has finally launched the Interceptor 650 in India. The Interceptor 650 is one of the most anticipated bikes in recent times. The bike has been developed from scratch at the company's technology centre at Leicestershire, England. The Interceptor 650 will be available in six colour options – Mark Three, Glitter Dust, Orange Crush, Ravishing Red, Silver Spectre and Baker Express.
The Interceptor 650 is designed for touring and city riding hence it gets a long and flat single seat. The seat height of the bike is at 804 mm. The bike’s fuel tank capacity is of 13.7-litres and the bike weighs 202 kg. The braking hardware of the motorcycle consists of a 320 mm disc at the front and 240 mm disc at the rear and it gets dual channel ABS as standard. The bike sits on 18-inch aluminium spoke wheels. The rims are wrapped around with Pirelli Phantom SportComp tyres. The front and rear tyres are 100/90 and 130/70 section respectively.
Powering the Interceptor 650 is a 648cc, parallel twin, air and liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine. The engine churns out 47 BHP of power and 52 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that comes with a slipper clutch. The Interceptor 650 is available from Rs. 2.34 lakhs (ex-showroom). The company has managed to price the bike very competitively and there is no direct rival to this bike at this price point.
