The car scored a total of 24.68 points and received a zero-star rating.

The Indonesia-spec Renault Kwid got an overall score of 24.68 points from three categories and got a zero-star rating in the ASEAN NCAP test. It got 10.12 points (of a maximum 36) in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) in its frontal offset crash test. In Child Occupant Protection (COP), it scored 14.56 points (of a maximum 49), and it didn’t get any points in the 18-point Safety Assist Technologies (SAT) category. For the final rating, the ASEAN NCAP gives 50 percent weightage to AOP and 25 percent each to COP and SAT.

The Kwid tested had a driver’s side airbag but not much else. Back in May 2016, the agency tested the India-made car and it also received a zero-star rating in May 2016, but the car then saw marginal improvements, earning one star in September 2016. In November 2017, Latin NCAP gave the Brazil-made Kwid three stars in its test.

Renault will make further tweaks to the Kwid and it could soon offer a comprehensive safety package upgrade with the facelifted version.
