Royal Enfield had launched the Bullet Trails 350 and Bullet Trials 500 on the 26th of March 2019. Both these motocycles were launched with an introductory price of Rs 1.62 lakhs and Rs 2.07 lakhs, (ex-showroom) respectively. However, now the latest news is that they have been discontinued in India. The reason for which is being said to be its low sales numbers. In fact the two-wheeler manufacturer has delisted these motorcycles from its official website.
According to media reports, most of the Royal Enfield motorcycles had resulted in negative growth in recent times including the best selling Classic 350, With the launch of Bullet Trials, the company was hoping to attract new customers and boost its overall sales. But unfortunately, that did'nt happen and the move has proved to be non-benificial.
.The Bullet Trials motorcycles were best suited for off-roading. They offered some unique features that included a dual-tone color scheme, single-seat, shorter fenders, longer suspension, upswept exhaust pipe, and higher set handlebar. The Bullet Trials 350 came powered by a 346 cc petrol engine that churns out 20 bhp power and 28 Nm torque. While the Bullet Trials 500 was powered by a 499 cc petrol engine that delivers 27.5 bhp of power output with 41.3 Nm of peak torque. Both these engines were mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Classics have been the top-selling Royal Enfield motorcycles till date. With the rise in inventory, a few dealers came up with an idea to give the Trials motorcycles a classic makeover. The makeover process is being undertaken at specific dealerships. There is an expectation of introducing a limited number of changes. These include the addition of a pillion seat and replacement of unswept exhaust with a regular unit from Classic. The main idea is to maintain the exclusiveness of Trials motorcycles while making them a more viable option for Classic customers.
However, this modification has helped a few dealers to clear the BS4 stock of Royal Enfield Trials. The company has also launched the Bullet Trials for the export market. There is no confirmation yet if they will discontinue the same from the export market or not. There is also no update on the launch of the BS6 version of Trials.
