Tank Tracks on Mahindra Roxor

Mahindra Roxor, the all-conquering all-terrain vehicle from Indian car manufacturer, is sold exclusively in the US market. Being an ATV, the vehicle is illegal on the public roads in most of the countries. However, with private tracks-culture now gaining ground in India, this off-roading giant has developed quite a fan following in our country as well. Roxor is primarily a redesigned version of the Mahindra Thar DI. The car enjoys massive popularity in US and there is a range of accessories available with the car in markets there. The latest in the series of official accessory is the mat-track.

Wondering what it is? A mat-track is a caterpillar track found on battlefield tanks. It is available with Mahindra dealerships and can increase the capability of Roxor to the next level altogether. This new accessory costs $16,995 or around Rs 12 lakh. However, we feel it will be worth the money as Roxor turns into a mountain giant with these new mat-track and can overcome the most difficult terrains.

According to reviews and reports floating around, the new mat-track system improves overall ground clearance of the Roxor. Besides, it massively improves the traction that can make Roxor go anywhere. It is not known if the individuals can also install it or it needs professionals to install.

Coming to the mat-track, it comes with especially-made rubber torsion anti-torque system and full rubber torsion suspension. It offers a smooth ride and the whole system has been designed keeping the weight saving in mind.

Talking about Mahindra Roxor, the ATV was launched in the USA market in 2018 at a price of $15,549 or Rs 11 lakhs. It is extremely rugged and gets steel frame just like the Indian Mahindra Thar. However, true to its reputation of an ATV, Roxor does not get any infotainment system. There are many other optional accessories available with Roxor, including off-road-spec tyres, soft rooftop, side- and rear-view mirrors, audio system, and grab handles. Mahindra also offers a wide range of colour options and wrap options on Roxor.

If we discuss mechanicals, the two-seater Roxor gets a 2.5-litre M2DICR turbocharged diesel engine that produces 64 PS power at 3,200 rpm and 195 Nm peak torque at 1,400 rpm and 2,200 rpm. So, the power and torque figures are the same as old Thar DI that was discontinued in the Indian market due to new stringent safety norms. The Roxor can hit a top speed of 72 km/h. It gets a 4X4 transfer case and manual transmission option. Mahindra offers an automatic option with the Roxor with a special edition model.
