Tesla's North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging ports have been recently adopted by four Volkswagen group companies, including Porsche, Audi, Scout, and Volkswagen Cars. The company announced on Tuesday in a press conference that the entire lineup of its brands will adopt the charging point in their electric vehicles starting next year. The automakers will find new solutions to allow current customers with CCS ports to use Tesla’s super-fast charging network. This will provide customers access to over 15,000 superchargers and the roughly 3,800 fast charging facilities that are in operation to electrify Canada and America.
Tesla announced in November last year that it would open its charging network to other brands, and since then almost every automaker, from major companies to startups, has decided to adopt the NACS hardware except Stellantis, which owns various brands in the U.S. including Jeep, Chrysler, and Dodge.

The Senior Director of Charging at Tesla, Rebecca Tinucci, commented on the VW Group’s commitment to adopt Tesla’s charging ports. She said that “Earlier this year, the North American charging standard was just an idea. Today, with the VW Group’s commitment, almost every major automotive manufacturer is onboard, rallying behind a shared vision of improving charging experiences for all EV drivers. This is only the beginning of our industry-wide efforts to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.”
Recently, VW teased the ID.2all, an electric crossover. The automaker is planning to sell this crossover on the international market sometime in 2026. The crossover is going to be Volkswagen’s smallest electric sports utility vehicle. The EV will be placed below the ID.5 and ID.4 models. The company is planning to unveil 10 new electric vehicles by next year.
The President and CEO of Volkswagen Group (America), Pablo Di Si, said that this is good news for the owners of the company’s electric vehicles in the North American region. This gives them access to more charging points. Customers of vehicles like the Volkswagen ID.4 will be able to access a wide charging network.
