We are back with our weekly dose of Auto shots for you! This week had quite a few launches. Starting from Toyota Urban Cruiser being launched at Rs 8.40 lakhs (ex-showroom) to BS6 Ducati Scrambler 1100 being launched at a starting price of Rs 11.95 Lakhs (ex-showroom) and Kia Sonet GTX+ petrol and diesel automatic at Rs 12.89 Lakhs. For all the high-adrenaline junkies, Mercedes Benz launched the AMG GLE 53 Coupé in the Indian market while MG unveiled the Gloster SUV. Kareena Kapoor Khan celebrated her 40th birthday and we took a stroll through her car collection. TVS Apache RTR 200 4V Supermoto ABS was also launched at Rs 1.23 Lakhs, while Harley Davidson discontinued operations in India.
Ducati India has launched the BS6 compliant Scrambler 1100 at a starting price of Rs 11.95 Lakhs (ex-showroom) in the country. The new motorcycle has been introduced in two trims: Pro and Sport Pro. The Scrambler 1100 Sport Pro attracts a sticker price of Rs 13.74 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Mechanically, the motorcycles are powered by a BS6 compliant 1100cc L-twin engine which develops a maximum power output of 86bhp at 7500rpm and peak torque performance of 88Nm at 4750 rpm. Read More
Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched its entry-level SUV, the Urban Cruiser, today at an introductory price of Rs 8.40 Lakhs (ex-showroom). This is the second product from Toyota which is from the joint venture with Maruti Suzuki. The Urban Cruiser is offered in three variants namely mid-grade, high-grade, and premium-grade. Under the bonnet, the Urban Cruiser is powered by a K-series, 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol mild-hybrid engine. The engine will deliver 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with a 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. Read More
Mercedes Benz India has launched the AMG GLE 53 Coupé at an introductory price of Rs 1.20 Crore (Ex-Showroom India, except Kerala) in the country. Mechanically, it is powered by a BS6 compliant 3.0L AMG six-cylinder in-line engine with twin-scroll turbocharging and F1 inspired 48 V EQ-Boost. The engine delivers a top power of 435bhp between 5500-6100rpm and peak torque of 520Nm between 1800-5800rpm. The EQ-Boost gives an extra power output of 22bhp and torque performance of 250Nm if and when needed. The engine is linked to a 9-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT automatic transmission with power being transmitted to all the four wheels via the 4MATIC+ with variable torque distribution. Read More
MG Motor India has unveiled the Gloster full-sized SUV in the country. MG Gloster bookings have started from today on the company's website as well as its 200+ dealerships at an amount of Rs 1 Lakh. It will be powered by the BS6 compliant 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine which will deliver a top power of 215bhp and peak torque of 480Nm, which makes it the most powerful vehicle in its segment. It was just last week, Kia Motor India launched the much-awaited subcompact SUV - the Sonet. At the time of its introduction, the Sonet was offered in 6 variants, namely HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, and GTX+. The South Korean automaker did not reveal the prices of the top-end petrol and diesel automatic variants back then. TVS Motor Company has launched a new variant of the Apache RTR 200 4V in the Indian market. This new variant comes equipped with Super Moto ABS. It is priced at Rs 1.23 lakh (ex-showroom). Talking about the SuperMoto ABS, it allows the rider to lock the rear wheel under hard braking. This further gives the bike the formidable stopping power and amazing brake control with which one can easily slide the bike across a race track. The US-based premium motorcycle brand Harley Davidson will be officially shutting down their business operations in India. In order to boost sales and attract customers, Harley-Davidson has announced multiple cost-saving measures in the past couple of months. However, the company has not been able to perform well in their sales numbers. This is basically the company’s new rewire business strategy.
