BS4 vehicle sale and purchase would cease from 24th April 2020 according to the latest Supreme Court ruling. Automobile manufacturers are racing round the clock to deliver BS6 models to their dealerships across the country. For bike enthusiasts sitting at home due to the nationwide lockdown, there is a bit of good news to cheer you up. Yamaha officially announced that it will be launching BS6 compliant FZ25 in India later this year. The company has just released a teaser image of the quarter-litre naked motorcycle on its official Facebook page. There is no specific date for launch due to the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak leading to the closure of production units and dealerships in India. We can expect the launch of BS6 compliant Yamaha FZ25 around May once the lockdown is relaxed . The new BS6 Yamaha FZ25 motorcycle could be sold in 2 different colours - Racing Blue and Metallic Black.
New BS6 Yamaha FZ25 will come with feature updates apart from the new BS6 compliant engine. There will be a refurbished bi-functional LED headlight with LED DRLs up front giving a sharper look to the FZ25. The Japanese Automaker might offer a multi-function LCD instrument cluster, along with new features like side stand, an engine cut-off system and engine cowl. New FZ25's headlight would be a major upgrade from the outgoing BS4 model. We believe 2 models will come under the Yamaha FZ25 series - FZ25 and FZ25S. Both the motorcycles will be similar in design but FZ25S will come with a larger windscreen and knuckle guards. Also, the FZ25S will be sold in different paint schemes compared to FZ25. Dual-channel ABS will come with both the FZ25 models.
Getting to the engine option. Yamaha FZ25 will be powered by a BS6 compliant 249 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 2-valve, SOHC, fuel-injected engine. The BS6 engine will generate 20.5 bhp of maximum power against the peak torque of 20.1 Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox will take care of the transmission duties.
Yamaha BS6 FZ25 will compete against Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Bajaj Dominar 250 in the quarter-litre naked motorcycle segment. Pricing for BS6 Yamaha FZ25 isn’t revealed but can be expected to be around Rs 1.40 Lakh (ex-showroom) Delhi.
