#1 Mahindra Thar delivered to auto component maker Minda Corporation's CEO Aakash Minda

The deliveries of the popular off-roader commence with the first vehicle reaching auto component maker Minda Corporation's CEO Aakash Minda in Delhi.

All-New Mahindra Thar was launched on the 2nd of October 2, 2020. The All New-Generation Thar is certainly an upgrade over its predecessor in terms of design, styling, features and powertrains. Deliveries of the popular off-roader are finally taking place with the first vehicle reaching auto component maker Minda Corporation's CEO Aakash Minda. Mahindra    & Mahindra announced on Twitter that Minda had won the auction organized in late September. Aakash paid Rs 1.11 crore to own the first New-Gen Mahindra Thar after a 6 day long online auction. Aakash Minda chose to purchase the top-end LX petrol automatic convertible variant which was delivered to him in Delhi recently. Unveiled on August 15, 2020,  bookings for the SUV had already crossed the 15,000 mark within a month of its launch.

The all-new Thar is a dynamic expression of fun, freedom and independence and will surely make a personalized statement for its owner", commented  Veejay Nakra, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on the eve of the first delivery. 

2020 Mahindra Thar comes in 2 variants namely AX and LX. The former sells at Rs 9.80 lakhs (ex-showroom) while the latter retails at an introductory price of Rs 12.49 lakhs (ex-showroom). Dimension wise, the new model is longer and wider in comparison to its predecessor. Talking about design updates on the new edition of the Thar, it stands to provide a black finished square-shaped grille up front with round headlamps featuring LED DRL's and a dual-tone bumper. Its AX trim gets all-terrain 16-inch tyres while on the other hand, the LX variant comes equipped with18-inch alloy wheels. The SUV provides both a fixed and a convertible roof option. 



Moving on to the engines on offer, the manufacturer is giving petrol and diesel options for the Indian buyer. Thus the petrol model is powered by a 2.0-litre mStallion engine delivering 150 bhp of power output and 350 Nm of peak torque. Whereas the 2.2-litre 4-cylinder CRDi diesel unit produces a maximum power output of 130 bhp with 350 Nm of torque. Its transmission duties are taken care by a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic stick that are offered with both petrol and diesel models. The AX variant is retailed with only a manual gearbox while the LX trim gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission option.
