The range doesn’t include any new bike, only updated versions of its existing models.

BMW’s motorcycle division is launching upgraded versions of its line-up in the Indian market on April 14th. These bikes have been thoroughly updated and sport the latest technology and design. Though the new range does not include any New Bike, the S 1000 RR, S 1000 R and S 1000 XR and the R 1200 GS have been upgraded.

The brilliant R 1200 GS features technical and equipment changes – it even sports a new instrument panel. Aside from that, the S series has also undergone some serious modifications. Though the BMW S 1000 RR will continue to be powered by the same engine, it will come equipped with traction control, a single-seat layout and an optional ABS Pro, with two new colour themes offered. The BMW S 1000 R packs a mean punch with 165hp and is now lighter by up to 2.3kg, due to a lightweight subframe plus vibration-free handlebars, styling changes, new colour schemes, ABS Pro and Shift Assistant Pro as options. The XR gets a power jump to 165hp, vibration-free handlebars and two new optional packages – Touring and Dynamic.

The range also includes a new version of the R nineT, named the R nineT Scrambler. It retains the overall identity of the R nine Tand is powered by a 1,170cc, twin-cylinder, air-cooled boxer engine making 110hp at 7,750rpm and 116Nm at 6,000rpm.

These bikes are supposed to arrive as Completely Built Units for the time being until a local seller is decided for assembly of the bikes. BMW announced its Indian bike debut last year and is likely to open showrooms in cities such as Pune, Mumbai and Bengaluru.
