The 10th generation Honda Civic is all set to make its debut in the Indian market next month. The Japanese automaker has revealed the specifications of the new gen Civic ahead of its launch in the first week of March. The Civic will be available in the Indian market for the first time with a diesel engine option.
Powering the new Civic is a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 141 PS of power at 6500 RPM and 174 Nm of torque at 4300 RPM. The petrol engine will be available only with a CVT automatic transmission. The diesel engine option is a 1.6-litre i-DTEC that produces 120 PS of power at 4000 RPM with 300 Nm of torque at 2000 RPM. It will be available only with a 6-speed manual transmission.
The ARAI claimed fuel efficiency of the petrol Civic is 16.5 km/l while the diesel is a segment leading 26.8 km/l. The new Honda Civic measures 4656 mm in length, 1799 mm in width, 1433 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2700 mm. The Civic will offer a fuel tank capacity of 47-litres with 430-litres of boot capacity. It will compete with the Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia and Hyundai Elantra.
