The much-awaited new generation Mahindra Thar is likely to be launched in August 2020. Many dealerships have now started accepting bookings for the SUV. Earlier it was supposed to be Mahindra Thar launched in April 2020 but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the launch got delayed. The SUV was also seen testing sometime back. Spy shots of the 2020 Mahindra Thar have been hitting the internet for almost three years now.
According to the spy shots, the 2020 Mahindra Thar gets an aggressive look due to the generation change. The front fascia features a wide and flat bonnet with round-shaped headlamps. The rear end gets the brick-shaped tail lights. The latest spy shots also revealed that the SUV will feature front bumper located fog-lamps. On the side, the SUV gets 18-inch black-painted alloy wheels. It will feature both soft-roof and hard-roof configuration. While its final appearance is yet to be revealed, overall the all-new Thar seems to connect to its original design.

The 2020 Thar is expected to get some major changes in terms of interior features. The cabin of the new SUV is likely to boast of a new upholstery with premium seats. Other highlights would include a touchscreen infotainment system in the top-end trim and auto climate control. The most major update is seen in the form of front-facing rear seats. This set-up will provide more space and safety for the passengers at the back. In terms of safety equipment, the SUV is likely to get dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, speed alert system among many others.

Under the skin, the all-new Mahindra Thar will be powered by a new BS-6 compliant 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine that will produce 187 bhp power and 380 Nm torque along with featuring Direct Injection and turbocharging. It will come equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while an automatic gearbox will also be in the offing. The Thar will also get a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 138 bhp of power output mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with an automatic transmission as an option. A four-wheel-drive system is also expected to be on the cards.
