Mahindra is testing the new generation Thar that will get bigger in size and will offer more features

The Mahindra Thar is a lifestyle SUV which most of the people buy for its presence, offbeat looks and off-road adventures. The first generation Thar has been accepted well by the Indian market but there are many niggles in the car that makes it an impractical car for daily usage. Mahindra is preparing to launch the new gen Thar which will get significant changes over the current version.

As seen in the pictures, the new Thar will be much longer and wider than its predecessor and will also come with a longer wheelbase to offer better space inside the cabin. The Indian carmaker is also updating the styling to make it look like the Wrangler. The overall silhouette is unmistakenly Thar but the styling will be more polished and look fresh.

Mahindra is expected to continue offering the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine with the Thar but it will get updated to meet the new BS6 emission norms. We might see a bump in power and torque figures. Expect big changes in the cabin with improved quality to make it more reliable in the long run.
