Honda Car India is all set to debut the fifth-Generation City on March 16th, 2020, in India. Competing against the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento, Toyota Yaris and Hyundai Verna, the new Honda City is quite similar to the Thailand-spec model that was unveiled last year. However, the India-spec model will get country-specific changes. While the current City is priced from Rs 9.91 lakhs - Rs 14.31 lakhs (Ex-Showroom), the new City is expected to be priced from Rs 11 lakhs - Rs16 lakhs (Ex-Showroom).
2020 Honda City: Variants
2020 Honda City will be offered in three petrol manual variants namely V, VX, and ZX. In dimensions, the New Honda City measures 4549 mm in length and 1748 mm in width while its wheelbase stands at 2600mm. The top-spec ZX trim dimension stands at 4569 mm in length and 1748 in width.
2020 Honda City: Engine Specifications
Mechanically, the 2020 Honda City will continue to draw power from the same BS6 compliant 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 117 bhp power and 145 Nm torque. This engine will be offered with both manual and CVT gearbox options. While the current City offers a manual transmission, the New Honda City petrol is likely to get a 6-speed unit. There will also be a 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that will produce 100 bhp power output with 200 Nm of peak torque. All three variants are expected to be offered the CVT unit.
2020 Honda City: Exterior Design Update
In terms of a cosmetic update, 2020 Honda City is longer and wider than the current model on sale but has the same wheelbase. The front fascia will feature sharper headlamps along with integrated LED DRLs. It gets a redesigned front grille, bumper area and, fog lamps, thus giving it a sportier look. The rear end gets an updated LED taillamp cluster along with a new bumper. The new City is also expected to have a higher ground clearance for a better drivability.
2020 Honda City: Interior Update
Inside, the 2020 Honda City comes packed with a plethora of features. These include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Apple Car Play and Andriod Auto. Other highlighted include a panoramic sunroof, digital multi-information display, and rear air conditioning vents. Convenience is ingrained in every angle in the new City with its ventilated seats, 5-headrests, and 3-point seat belts. The new City also offers a host of safety features that include six airbags, ABS with EBD, cruise control, VSC (Vehicle Stability Control), and ISOFIX child seat anchors.
