The new Q5 facelift is likely to be launched in India in 2021; will get a petrol powertrain only.
Audi has finally taken the wraps off the updated and facelifted version of the New Q5 SUV. It is likely to go on sale in the international market by the end of 2020. The SUV will be launched in India by 2021. Once launched, it will compete against the likes of Mercedes Benz GLC, BMW X3, Volvo XC60, and Land Rover Discovery Sport. Audi Q5 Facelift is expected to be priced at around Rs 55 lakhs (ex-showroom).
In terms of design, the 2021 Audi Q5 Facelift gets new LED headlamps with sharper LED DRLs, thus looking more aggressive than the outgoing model. There is also an option of Matrix LED lights but it is a bit pricier and is available in the higher variants only. The front end also gets a new octagonal single-frame grille that makes the model look larger than the current Q5. The front bumper has been redesigned and is a lot more chiseled now. The rear end gets an update too. The taillights now feature digital OLED (Organic LED) Technology. Apart from this, it also features a sportier bumper with new integrated exhausts. The new SUV gets bigger side intakes that sport blacked-out inserts.
As far as the interior features are concerned, then the company has focused more on technology. The 8.3-inch center screen set up has been replaced by a 10.1-inch touchscreen unit which is borrowed from Audi’s MIB 3 or Modular Infotainment Platform. This further makes it faster as compared to its predecessor. It also gets Amazon’s Alexa platform. Apart from this, the Q5 gets car connected tech including a feature called ‘ Functions on-demand’. This particular feature comes with the option of activating additional features like Navigation Plus. No modification has been made in terms of cabin space.
Globally, under the skin, Audi Q5 Facelift continues to draw power from the petrol and diesel engines. The India-spec model will draw power from a 45TFSI-spec 2.0-litre petrol engine that is expected to churn out 245 bhp power and 370 Nm torque. The motor will come mated to a 7-speed S-Tronic, dual-clutch gearbox sending power to all four wheels through Quattro all-wheel-drive technology.
